Cheesman Park Real Estate
Cheesman Park real estate offers a mix of home styles made popular at the turn of the century: Italian Renaissance, NeoClassical, Beau Arts, Georgian Revival, and Queen Anne’s … just to name a few. Several condominium towers and beautiful townhomes edge the park, and there is a smattering of loft-style options and older apartment complexes in the neighborhood.
A big renovation push in the ‘90s made property values rise in Cheesman Park, so prices have a wide range. Attached homes average in the $300s; single-family homes easily average in the $600s. And a designated historical home – particularly one located in Humboldt Island, a historic residential district that borders the park – will set you back a few million.
Boundaries of the Cheeseman Park neighborhood are Josephine to Corona, Colfax to 8th Avenue.
Its zip codes are 80206 and 80218.
Cheesman Park Amenities
The Cheesman Park neighborhood provides an urban lifestyle without the noise; quality outdoor time without the long commute.
The heart of the neighborhood is the 80-acre Cheesman Park; opened in 1907, it was renamed in honor of Walter S. Cheesman, a Denver pioneer and water baron. Full of lush green grass, winding paths amid majestic trees, a small playground and an iconic pavilion that dates back to 1910; the park is an oasis in the middle of the city.
It is also a park with a ghoulish past – the land was originally a cemetery in the late 1800s, when the residential boundaries of Denver didn’t stretch that far to the east. But after years of disuse and a petition to Congress, graves were moved and a beautiful park was designed for the nearby residents to enjoy.
Today’s residents of the Cheeman Park neighborhood enjoy its macabre history. They also enjoy year-round events at the Denver Botanic Gardens, which borders the park. Walk a few blocks north and immerse yourself in the eclectic shops and local flavor along Colfax. Head a few blocks south to enjoy the boutiques and higher-end restaurants in Cherry Creek North. Or jump on the Cherry Creek bike path to head downtown.
