Stapleton Real Estate

Take your pick of houses and lifestyles; this community has it all. Stapleton homes range from townhouses and condos starting in the low $200s, all the way up to Tuscan Mansion homes for one million or more. So regardless of your stage of life – first time homebuyer, empty-nester, modern couple or growing family – Stapleton has a home for you.

Stapleton real estate currently covers five maturing neighborhoods, all with their own amenities, like: pocket parks, pools and a local dog park. And while yards are smaller, nearly 30% of Stapleton is dedicated to open and green space so you get all the grass you need…without having to mow it. There are also six new schools serving Stapleton home owners – including three charter schools – with a seventh scheduled to open for the 2011 school year. An interchange from I-70 is expected to be operational in late 2011 and a light rail station is planned to open 2016; until then, the trails woven throughout Stapleton link to a regional network that will let you to bike all over the metro area.

Looking around, it's hard to believe that Stapleton used to be Denver's airport. What was once runways and terminals filled with travelers is now a place that people call home. Though the project has a timeline that spans 15 years and 4,700 acres, Stapleton already has nearly 10,000 residents that enjoy the mixed-use aspect of living in an urban neighborhood. That means leaving the car at home and using "people power" to: take your kids to school; have drinks or dinner in the town center; enjoy concerts, movies, the Farmer's Market or Sweet William Market at Founder's Green. This – and a lot more – is all just a walk or bike ride away at Stapleton.

Stapleton's master plan is inspiring because one of its goals is to create an environmentally friendly community. Here are some of the ways that the community does this:

  • 100% of the homes in Stapleton are built to ENERGY STAR® requirements and all office buildings are built to LEED Green Building standards.
  • Nearly 30% of Stapleton is set aside for open and green space promoting healthy outdoor activities.
  • Almost 27 thousand trees have been planted around Stapleton homes and streets.
  • There will be 1100 acres of parks and green space in the community when it's finished
  • There are plans for 25 miles of walking and bike paths in the community.
  • Much of the anticipated 81 miles of sidewalk at completion will be recycled from old airport runways.
  • More than 93% of Stapleton home owners participate in the city recycling program - the highest of any Denver neighborhood.

The zip code for Stapleton Colorado is: 802038. Stapleton boundaries are: Quebec St, Peoria St, Montview Blvd and Adams County.

Stapleton Schools

Learning is important to Stapleton, which is why its founders created the Stapleton Education Master Plan in order to fully define the educational goals for the community. (Traditional K-12th education – public, private and charter – as well as less traditional methods are explored.) As a result, Stapleton home owners tend to be a particularly well-educated group of homebuyers: 80% of Stapleton residents are college graduates, and 44% of those have earned graduate degrees.

  • Westerly Creek Elementary School: A K-5 school with a teaching curriculum built on the nationally known Core Knowledge program; its campus is shared with the Odyssey School.
  • Odyssey School: A K-8 expeditionary learning charter school based on the Outward Bound philosophy; its campus is shared with Westerly Creek Elementary.
  • William "Bill" Roberts Elementary School: A K-8 school that is community-centered and committed to academic excellence; the facility is heated and cooled by using geothermal renewable energy.
  • Denver School of Science & Technology (DSST): Part of the Denver Public School system, DSST is Stapleton's first charter high school; the liberal arts school has a science and technology focus. DSST is expanding their curriculum to include a full grade 6 to 12 program.
  • The Primrose School: A nationally known preschool with a curriculum that emphasizes a well rounded childhood education, including: personal development, physical skill development, and the arts.
  • Anchor Center for Blind Children: Founded in 1982, the school dedicated to visually impaired children with a focus on beginning education as early as possible. It now educates nearly 400 blind children a year from its new home in Stapleton.
